Default E-P3 OLED Screen tip

Credit where credit is due...

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=40003664

I no longer contribute to that forum but do still read it as, every once & a while, a golden nugget is revealed. I never would have noticed this and gone through life figuring the back LCD of the E-P3 just was what it is and never would give a good preview because of the over-the-top colors. Now, amazingly, the colors are extremely accurate on mine!

Why Olympus sets this camera up with a default VIVID-toned back LCD is beyond me.

.....I've never participated in any DPR forum but I do read quite a lot and do sometimes find information that is useful.

When I sat down with my P3 the first time, I attempted to see every menu item in the camera and that was a 1st ever for me. One thing I did was for every mention of VIVID that I saw as a setting I changed to NATURAL.... Evidently I changed this setting because just now I checked and it was @ NAT and brightness @ +1 and temp @ 0. This may be the only setting for default VIVID but it got changed. (I tried some VIVID settings in the E-3 early on and found that I did not like anything about VIVID, still don't).

I've never questioned the display because to me it looked color correct on mine. When I've read that the display over emphasizes the image (the display was/is too good) to where the actual image is something less I have ignored it but really did not know why it was being said, mine seems perfect,,,,, maybe this setting was the cause of some of those remarks.

Vivid as a default anything is somewhat like the default file(s) sizes set to less than maximum resolution.

Is the PL-2 guilty of this?

Just the E-P3. It's the only model with this type screen.
