Default Special pricing on an E-PL1 w/ 14-42mm lens

Cameta Camera is offering a special on factory demos of
E-PL1 w/14-42mm lens at $249.00 USD.

That's about as low as I've ever seen for a really good camera.

That is definitely bargain basement pricing.

hmmmmmm, that price would make a really-good 'keep it in the glovebox' handy cam.

Well Bob,

At first I started thinking if I should get one. Then realized that I already have one as well as the E-P2.

Olympus must have made a fist-full of those cameras to get to the point of needing to clear them out at such prices. With both the subsequent E-PL2 still in-stock and the E-PL3 replacement for the E-PL2 already out, that's a lot of bodies.....3 generations of the entry level camera still available.

And the amazing thing to me is, they made so many niche accessories, like the underwater housing for the E-PL2. How many of these could they have sold in the brief period of time between the E-PL1 and E-PL3?

What I'm about to write will create some discussion (and disagreement) but...stay away from Cameta's items that they claim to be demos. They are NOT demos...they are refurbished. Now if you don't mind buying refurbished cameras, then go right ahead. I personally prefer to pay $50 more and buy a brand new item. I felt for the Cameta demo thing twice and will never consider that retailer again unless the item is marked as new. Just beware, that's all.
