.......do an E-M1! Once you are with it you will know it was a right decision.

I am tempted by the EM-10, biggest reason it's not on my list is weather sealing. Second reason is that it's too new to be on the refurbished page at a discount.

Yeah I am decided that the EM-1 is the right decision for me. I want a 5+ year camera and think an EM-5 or EM-10 is going to leave me wanting an upgrade in 2 years when they get the benefit of the PDAF on chip continous AF.

My thought is if you are going to make the investment, might as well get what you want so you don't have buying remorse later.

The more I look at them the more the EM5 and 10 are pretty much equivalent in my mind, the EM10 of course not having weather proofing but gaining some nice features and layout changes. LIke you said, there aren't any refurb EM10s yet so for now I'd say the edge has to go to the 5 for the time being.

I appreciate the em1 but don't think I need it personally. I don't have any 4/3 lenses so I'm not sure the other enhancements are necessarily worth it for me.

I agree Sammy, if you don't have 4/3 lenses I'd probably take the same bus your on. All my lenses are 4/3 but at this time I'm pretty happy with the E-3, it fits my hands without accidentally touching other buttons and starting something you don't want started.

Even though I do have some 4/3 lenses they are all CDAF compatible and focus well enough on the PEN, the EM-5 or EM-10 would be an improvement.

Had the EM-10 come with weather sealing I would probably have a harder time justifying the EM-1 over it.

All that said the shots from TG of freestyle bikes and racing cars tells me that the EM-1's PDAF capability in C-AF mode opens a whole new area of shooting that neither the EM-10 or EM-5 can offer. Maybe it's not something I need for most of what I do but it could be something I find really useful when I have it. Another way of looking at it is that it makes the purchase a bit more future proof as I won't be looking at the EM-6 or whatever it is called thinking about how I can justify an upgrade to it when it comes out. The EM-1 will be on top of the heap for at least a few more years and will satisfy my needs for many years, just have to wait for it to get back in stock and go on sale again on the refurbished page.
