Smile .......for me, butterflies are a snap

(PUN intended) ..... compared to people!

I very VERY seldom ever do something like this but my kiddos asked me more than once if I would 'please' photograph our granddaughters prom group of friends.

I finally relented and again I know why 'I don't do people' but I am happy with the results ...and I have 2-more chances (Marissa is class of 2016) to get this better done.

I will admit it was fun to do, I am happy I did.

Camera E-M1 Lens ZD 14-54 LIGHT=atrocious to deal with so these were all shot in 'P' mode for JPG. Some PP with ASPro.

Extremely nice job, Bob. They were lucky to be able to afford you.

And what a well behaved bunch of kids. Last time I tried to take a group photo like that every shot had some kid making rabbit ears on someone else.

These are great Bob! I will be doing the same soon as my daughter has junior prom in a few short weeks... Already blown a small fortune on a dress! I think I will follow your lead and shoot with my 14-55 ... Any other observations?

For our shoot there were 10-couples and moms called out the posing which I was happy about, all I did for the group shots give the others a few seconds for shots then I would get the groups attention (calling out very loud and prompting for 'look here while pointing out front at the camera lens......). In this case of 'red carpet' shooting you just need to be outgoing with the prompting or you won't get the shot.

AND, because there were quite a few cameras (no paid pros were there though some thought I might be (nobody actually asked) and that gave me some latitude to get in position) I shot all the groups in slow-burst mode in shots of 5 or more. Even so there is most always someone nodding, scratching their nose, closing of eyes, tickling another for a laugh..... all regardless of prompting. I recommend for more than simple posing shoot 'burst'.

Mine was a fun experience, I would (and will, my granddaughter has 2-more HS years) do it all over.

Really nice-looking group of young adults. I know you told the guy to wear those sun glasses so you'd show up in the image too
