Default Another Avocet

Fred's striking Avocet photo reminded me of one I captured near the Salton Sea back in February. Mine's nowhere near as close so refer to Fred's if you want to know what they look like. The background bird is a Black-Necked Stilt but if you want to know what they look like you'll have to look it up.

Lumix 14-140 at 140mm 1/1250 f8.0 ISO 200. The dim light traversing the birds was created with the LR Radial Filter.

Maybe not as close, but the composition and lighting are excellent.

Thanks Greg. I was shooting from a viewing platform about 15 feet high which put the eyepiece somewhere around 20 feet over the surface. The platform allowed a better angle than would have been accomplished standing on the ground.

I should have added, I really like the way you used the radial filter. That's one I need to work on using more.

Interesting shot, I really like the composition and minimalistic mood of it.

Thanks Marcelo. I don't print many but I just might turn this one into a 16 x 20 and hang in on the wall for awhile.
