Default ...it ain't no bird but it is big & it flies

Though I posted of a Giant Swallowtail a day or so ago I am doing another of the same butterfly.

It was at our Penta again today; with the E-M1 & m40-150 I made more files with better captures.

Now, that I know it may be around for a while if I get another/more chance I will shoot burst mode to capture unique wing positioning. This critter is so big and it doesn't bother that I am standing within 4-ft of it for these shots.

I tried getting it onto my outstretched hand; came close but it did not happen.

The best lens I have for this beauty is the m40-150; it performs very well, AF is lightning fast which is good, the butterfly does perch but only for a very short time; a fast AF is needed

The 40-150 is the perfect tool for the job, and almost feels like there's no lens mounted.

That all look ALOT of patient shooting... a hard thing in these temps, even in morning.

Steven .. Tnx, me too, I do have a favorite but it is tough to pick. The images here are hyper-links to my Smugmug gallery, maybe I missed one you would like better, take a peek.

Greg .. It was noon time (12:00 - 12:45), hotter'n-heck.

My son stopped by for a while, when he was to leave I walked out with him when he saw the butterfly otherwise I would not have been outside to see it.

You are right, the m40-150 is perfect for the job, I am very happy to have it.

Sharp as a tack and colorful too. Just looked up the m40-150 and can't believe how inexpensive it is for a lens that can create images like these. I've been waiting for a pro version with a little more reach but I'm not sure it's necessary now.
