Default In the Studio

Say what you will about this winter, on the right days it does provide magnificent light to shoot with. On a brilliant, clear day, the reflected light off the snow through an indirectly lit window gives you a giant soft box. White ceilings and a few reflector cards and away you go. Adjust the distance of the fill reflector, and you really have a good controllable light source. And with a large window, the light really wraps around the subject material nicely.

The first day shot for sharpness (the gerber) which is a foolish thing to do with the original 14-42 kit lens, the second day mounted my Micro-Nikkor 55mm (starting with the red lily) shot sharp and then slowly started to open the lens up wide and just look for the colour patterns.

I guess Iím the last one here still shooting with the E-PL1. Seems that I am finding it harder to use as my finger tips are slowly going numb ó kind of problematic with the pens and all the button pushing required. It hopefully is a temporary side effect of one of the medications I am now being subjected to. An unexpected health issue has set aside any plans for new equipment for the time being. Ah well, I can wait and continue on with the PL1.

Beautiful macros Kula, love the sharpness and colors.

The black BG really helps to bring the colors and attention into the flowers.

Great job, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the compliments. Sadly the big light reflector -- the snow -- is turning grey as the melt begins. I am going to explore more defocusing and working on composition, rather than trying to capture the most life-like images.
