The closed focus on the 14-150 mm really works well. This is what I used on all the recent Dragonflies pictures. Thanks for leaving a nice comment!

Default ID of Dragonfly correction

Thanks to Rocky from the Wildlife forum to alert me of the correct ID of this dragonfly to be a Cardinal Meadowhawk Dragonfly. Thanks a lot, Rocky!

Ah, the 14-150II. Both good close focusing ability and, zoomed out, an ability to keep a safe distance so the subject does not get spooked and fly off.

I don't remember the original 14-150 focusing that close, but maybe it does.

Greg, this is the old 14-150 mm. The marking on the lens says 0.5 m/1.63 ft. This lens works better than my EF 100 mm f/2.8 L Macro on the Canon camera even without the 1:1 magnification. It is a very good lens for butterflies and dragonflies. I like it a lot.

Thanks, Marcelo! This is one of the four Dragonflies who visit my friend's backyard. They are so used to seeing people that they don't usually pay attention to us taking pictures of them.
