IS is image stablization. It is used when you zoom and stablizes the lens by adjusting for your hand movement. The C730 does not have IS. I believe you may disappointed in trading you Uzi for the C730.

Good news about the Uzi. The 750 should be out this month. It has a few features that the the 740 does not have. Check the specs at Olympusamerica.com.

The 730 and UZI both suffer rather badly from Purple Fringing (Chromatic Aberrations?).

Take a look at the 740 and 750 as I think they both have the new ED lens which produses less CAs.

Hi Shirl...

Hmmmmmm.....very lil of purple fring w/my Oly C2100uz....

But then again, I am mainstream...not on the fringe

If you can stand a little less (reported) quality with pics
you may want to consider an HP 850. It does have
an 8x zoom and is now selling for about $400-450.

Also, someone on another thread indicated that Olympus
acquired a olydak patent for a zoom lens cam...sooooo...
if you can wait....

Digcamfan, you've given me something else to think about, just checked out the Hp, nice cam, I think everytime we go to buy a new cam there's always a new one due out and we wait, and if like me by the time i save up the money there's another one due out ! LOL
