Hi, I have had my C770 for about 3 years now and I love it. BUT..I have never been able to get the sound to work when I record movies. It's very frustrating. Can anyone help?

It doesn't have sound unless you connect an external microphone. Isn't the c-770 awesome? i love my c-770..very reliable and takes great pictures

Oh! I will have to get one then, thanks. Yes, I love it. Super great pics and
easy to use. I even figured out how to edit, cut and enhance the videos this week
so that's been a real plus. Thanks again! Denise

..humm...well, finding an external microphone for my digital isn't going to be as easy as I thought...been everywhere on the net. Any ideas of how to buy one?

No, no, no. Not true at all. There certainly is a mic on board the 770-- you just have to enable it through the menu. The default is mic off, but turn it on in the menu and it should work. recorded w/UZ C770 on-board mic:

REALLY? I have been all thru the menus prior to posting this and I can't find it. I can find "sound on or off" and I have that to "ON". Still nothing. Can you walk me thru it, please?
p.s. love the video. ;-)

Maybe your internal mic is bad? The Sound option in the menu enables or disables the sound memo function of still images, not movies. It should always record sound with movies. If you enable sound and take a still picture is there a sound memo attached to it in playback? If so, did it record the memo? Can you play it back and hear it? If the mic is bad this probably won't work either.

Well..isn't that cool?! --- yes, I CAN record my voice to a still picture. I've never done that before. My manual is so vague, I had to figure it out myself. SO, does this mean my mic DOES work?

mine is C765(2.5 years old), a tiny bit cheaper model of 770

did you turn on your sound in the menu?

Wow-- I can't believe I am contradicting our hallowed administrator, but I am positive, Steve, that there is a menu item that addresses the on/off function of the sound for video recording. Sure-- there is also a menu item to turn on sound to annotate a still, but, trust me, there is a mic on/off for video toggle, too. The default for video sound is off (unfortunately), and I even started a thread about this many moons ago:

http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...light=scotious

(cough cough) Unfortunately I cannot guide you thru this exactly as my beloved C770 is right now winging it's way back to me from Olympus following a pretty grave malfunction. $174.00 to be exact. But that's another issue.

My videos always have sound-- when I remember to turn it on!
