Default UZ 750 or Lumix FZ1 or??

I am looking for a big zoom and am thinking about the above 2 cameras, or anything else suitable. The FZ1 has image stabilisation but the 750 does not. The total zooms are 1280 for the FZ1 and 1520 for the 750. Does anyone have experience or comments to make on which I should go for? I am ken on nature photography, and only sometimes have the opertunity for tripod use.

the FZ1's zoom is longer than the oly's i believe.

if you seldom have the chance to use a tripod, then the IS of the panasonic will be more helpful to you especially at those handheld high zoom shots.

the FZ1 however is basically a 'high end point & shoot' as is noted in the review here, and the oly will have much more manual controls & other functions than the FZ1.

hope this helps =)

When comparing zoom lenses, you'd be well advised to compare only the optical zoom range, as the total (optical + digital) zoom range provides a much lower quality picture because of the digital zoom. The Panasonic does, in fact have a longer optical zoom than the Olympus.

But 10x optical with olympus is enough, i think. In fact u can use this olmypus as binocluras . :P
edit:I read some specifications and man u are crazy, no?.lumix is only 2MPX and its much bigger. And it has no manual settings!!!750 is miles away from this one.

The big thing about the Lumix DMC-FZ1 is the IS, image stabilization.

it's useless and even counterproductive when you can use a tripod. but when you can't... =)

Or you don't WANT to drag a tripod around.

I admit though I haven't had much need for IS...I've taken handheld shots at full optical zoom (380mm) and full digital zoom (1000mm) with no problems (in bright daylight).

The Lumix 2.0 Effective Megapixels and the C-750 has 4.0 Megapixels CCD. Of the two I rather have the higher megapixels.

Notice that diference betwen 750 and 740 is only in MPx.But both have same CCD proportions. What it means?740 take much better pictures , cos ccd elements are bigger, and thats why 750 has more noise in the pictures in comparison to the 740.
