I have an Olympus SP-310, and every time I shut the camera off the menu settings revert back to some kind of default.

For example, I take some pictures at 1600x1200, but when I turn the camera back on it's back to 7MP image size. Really irritating when you take a picture then want to take another one 20 minutes later and have to fumble with the menu for a minute first.

Is there any way to stop this from happening?

The first item in the Setup menu is RESET, turn it Off.

The item I see is:

I hit "Menu", arrow right to "Mode Menu", Arrow down to "Setup", then I can arrow right to "Reset."

The two options are "Yes" and "No". If I do "Yes", it resets the cameras settings. If I do no, it does nothing and the settings still reset when I reset the camera.

It's driving me nuts. Did I miss a firmware update or something?

Be sure you set it as Off, not just select it. Go back and select Reset again and see what it is set for. If it is Off then it should remember the selected resolution between power on/off, if not then it isn't working right. Always RTFM - read the manual.
