Default Wireless Remote Shutter Release?

What information does anyone have regarding the Wireless Remote shutter release on the Olympus C750UZ. I have word that the C740UZ will ALSO take the same accessory? Anyone have any more information regarding that?

Default

Only the 750 (and 730) can use the remote, NOT the 740 (or 720 & 700) (according to the Olympus C-Series accessory chart).

The remote itself is IR, has buttons for shutter, telephoto/wideangle, + and -, and a channel button.

To use it, you first have to turn on the remote mode on the camera (using the drive button as you would to turn on the timer except you wait until the remote icon appears on the screen). Then you point the remote to the front of the camera...when you press the shutter button on the remote you have 2-3 seconds (depending on which camera) to hide the remote and pose (if you are doing a self-portrait).

Default Quick reply.

Thanks for the quick response.
I received my information from B&H Camera. They said it was for the C740 and C750.
From your description, it isn't that much of a remote shutter release but more of a glorified self timer.
I have noticed that many have complained of movement of camera AFTER they press the shutter even with a tripod. My thinking was this accessory would eliminate the shaky pictures. I don't have that much of a problem with shaky pictures. I use a tripod on most of my pictures however I was thinking that if my subject (birds on my window ledge) come and go not necessarily when I'm sitting behind the camera, well that I could be focused and then without touching the camera, I could actuate the remote shutter, that would get me the missed pictures.
But from your description, it doesn't seem that efficient.
Again thanks,
Se ya,
Louis
