Default fix a C700?

After almost 2 years and thousands of pictures my trusty c700 won't turn on. It just makes a few squawking noises and a beep...the lens doesn't move. I've tried new batteries, etc. It works fine in playback mode.

Olympus tells me $160 to fix...should I do that or buy a 750? I hate to throw away a nice camera...

Default no local service...

Local camera shops and the electronics store I bought it from all say I need to go to Olympus. When i finally got a hold of technicians at Olympus I was advised I'd need to send it in and $160 would fix it...

That's the minimum repair cost for a C-700...some repairs can cost as much as $214. There is a 2 year extended warranty available from Olympus America which includes a cleaning an checkup available for $85, but only if you bought it within your original warranty period.

I personally thought about this before my warranty expired a few weeks ago, but didn't feel it worth it because I'd want to upgrade anyway...and if the damage to my camera was my own fault, the warranty wouldn't cover it anyway.
