I feel like I did when I got my first Olypmus digital camera (a D-600L) and I noticed the declining availability of SmartMedia cards.

My e300 is great.. Compact Flash will likely be around for a while.

But now I have a brand new Stylus 830 and I'm wondering if I need to collect a bunch of xD cards now.

Does Olympus just like to use these less used memory formats?

I noticed recently that they have stopped making H series xD cards but still make the M series. if I was you I would watych bhphotovideo and newegg.com and when they stop selling them make a mad dash and get what you need. I think they are on their way out

xD Picturecard is proprietary to Olympus and Fujifilm. They make money from cards, royalties and license fees. ;-)
