Default stylus 300 or fuji 3800

any advice on which to go for?
my fuji a303 took about 10 seconds for flash to recharge, will any of these be better?

You have to remember these are consumer cameras. Smaller cameras especially that have smaller battery capacity will take longer to recharge. Even larger cameras like the C-series with built-in flash that use 4AAs can take 6-8 seconds to recharge depending on the condition of your batteries.

The only reason why you'd want the Stylus over the Fuji is for the weather resistance.

If you really need fast recharge times for your flash you'll have to upgrade to a camera that can use external flashes, and buy an expensive flash which can use a high capacity external battery pack.

so basically in terms of everything else they are pretty much the same thing?

They are both 3 mp cameras. The 3800 is twice the size of the 300. The 3800 has a six optical zoom vs 3x optical zoom for the 300. Compact and light equals 300. Big zoom equals 3800.
