Default Taking pictures of small subjects witha D-560...

I have been trying to take a picture of a ring that I have purchased for the past few days. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get the camera to focus on the ring. I have taken tons of pictures with my camera, all with great results. Does anyone have any tips on how to focus on such a small subject???? Any help woud be much appreciated.

Did you turn on Macro (closeup) mode, the button with the flower?

With the D-560 you can only get as close as 8".

With other cameras you can get closer, or attach closeup lenses but unfortunately you can't do that with D-series cameras.
