It is a problem if light sneaks into the viewfinder. Unfortunately for ultra zoom cameras you need a TTL (through the lens) viewfinder.

I have a hard time seeing the evf in bright light. Maybe its more of a problem for me because I wear glasses so I don't put my eye as close to the evf.

I have a 720 and a 750 and have had no difficulty using the EVF even on Carribean beaches. I'll even leave my sunglasses on to take the picture!

Just my two cents!

I admit though, one of my beefs to Oly about the C-7x0 is that it doesn't have a standard eyecup mount like a SLR does so you can clip in a generic eyecup...heck, even the Polaroid cameras used to have an eyecup.

Good point, Mike. And how expensive could they be!

It seems to me that most digital camera designers have never used a real camera in their life, and I'm not talking about just Olympus designers. Not just in the viewfinder, but other things like not having any body left of the lens to hold onto, a plastic tripod socket, etc.

After I responded to this thread, I went on a shoot yesterday and left my baseball cap in the car when I went to photograph a harbor scene in bright sunlight. (I always wear the cap when shooting in sunlight.)

I was blind as a bat looking through the EVF! The answer is to wear a baseball cap. If the sun is streaming from the right, simply turn the visor to provide the shade over the EVF.
