Default c-5050 discontinued

I bought the Olympus c-5050z NEW on 6/10/2003 from CAMERA FOR LESS on internet for $574.90 plus extras. It required a repair about 4 months later and was told by Olympus that the 90 day "refurbished " camera warantee had expired! The repair cost $187.00. It was not a GREY market product either. When I emailed the dealer, I was told that the camera was new but because it was discontinued, there was only a 90 day warantee. There was no mention of REFURBISHED or 90 DAY WARANTEE in their advertisement WHEN I bought it.

I think I was ripped off. Any suggestions?

The camera may be discontinued from the production line with the introduction of the 5060, but the camera sold new will still carry a 1 year warranty from Olympus. Olympus can determine from the Serial Number if a camera was refurbished by them. Contact the dealer and your credit card company.

yes you have been ripped and should now take action against said dealer. the 5050 is still in current distribution from olympus.

Someone wasn't telling you the whole truth. Did the camera come with the standard C-5050 box with 1 year warranty documentation (which you hopefully sent in)? If you sent it in or registered online, and Olympus didn't say, "Hey this is a refurbished product" when you did so, then you have a stronger claim.
