Default C5060 - a brighter note

The Olympus C5060 is my first digital camera (so keep in mind that I have no digital frame of reference) and my preliminary impression is that it greatly exceeds my expectations.

I have been an amateur photographer for 35 years or so using Nikon, Contax and Zeiss equipment, not to mention my trusty Minilux. With everything but the Minilux, I have had to work to get photos worthy of the adjective "good".

Right out of the box, the C5060 has produced photos that will rival anything I have been able to produce with my 35mm equipment. Coupled with a hp7960 Photosmart printer, the C5060 has been able to at least duplicate and probably exceed (up to 8x10 size) anything I have been able to do with the 35mm stuff.

I'm a rank beginner with digital and have almost everything to learn, but this camera deserves some accolades based on my limited first trials. I will be most interested to see what Steve's conclusion is when he posts his results based on a production model.

Default C-5060

Nice to see someone actually using a 5060. You are braver than me, I'm waiting to see the reviews before I let go of my money.

Would be interested to see if you have any sample pictures.

Regards

I don't have a site to host images. Can you suggest somewhere they can be uploaded and then linked to?

www.photobucket.com (images have to be 250K or less)

www.pbase.com (free to try, allows full size images, shows Exif info, $23 a year)

I use www.pbase.com. 100mb of picture storage for $23 a year is a great value.
