Default camedia C-725 quits working

I have a Olympus Camedia C-725 that works for a while then quits working. When I remove the batteries for a few minutes and reinstall them it works again for a while. then does it again. the batteries are new and I have changed them out still the same problem. I have tried to find if there is a firmware update for it but have not found anything on it yet. Has anybody got an explaination for it? And what to do to fix it?

It has always worked great and takes good pictures.

thanks for any and all help

Thanks for all the help. I have not found where to try to get this working . I am not sure but I think that it is firmware.

I was unable to find any firmware updates for this camera.

This camera is several years old now, and it appears that Olympus no longer offers and web support for this device. You may have to contact Olympus directly.

Maybe you could try cleaning the battery contacts inside the camera, in case that there is some corrosion buildup that interrupts full power of the batteries to the camera.

The camera contacts could be cleaned firmly with a dry cloth. If you notice heavy corrosion try cleaning with sandpaper or a wire brush, steel wool, etc. Blow out any residue from the battery compartment after cleaning, make sure both ends of the batteries are clean before putting them back into the camera. It's worth a try and I hope it works.

The C725 was a good camera in its prime, but it is old now. It would be hard to justify spending a lot of money to repair it. You might start looking on e-bay for newer Oly superzooms.

Good luck,
Steven R.

I will check that but do not think that is it. When it messes up the zoom goes all the way out and won't come back and the camera locks up. It has not been droped or wet. and I still think that it might be the firmware. but I have no way to tell for sure with what I know. I thought I could find an update for the firmware and try that. Iwill contact teh compay and try that. I have a hared time buying from a company that does not cointue to support what they make. so I will buy a different brand if I have to buy another one. Thank all for all the information.

my C 725 (we lived many years together , hard to move on...) just ceased functioning. It only produces a constant noise like trying to push the lens forward, but nothing happens. Is there anything I can do?

Assuming that you have removed and replaced the batteries with a fresh set, you may want to try contacting some of the troubleshooting camera repair websites and describing the problem. They usually can tell you if it is a minor or major problem, and if it is worth repairing.

Try these two sites:
