Default Anyone Remember the Oly C-8080?

For a long time I regretted having to sell my well loved Oly C-8080 to purchase my first DSLR camera, the Oly E-300. Well, I stumbled across a C-8080 for sale on E-Bay, and I fed the inner child. I purchased it.

Well, it arrived today, 24 December, and here is one of my first photos with the new C-8080.

Sarah: Looking forward to some more shots from your C8080 when you get the chance. From time to time I put aside the DSLRs and pull out the C8080; it's a well built camera with an excellent lens. I don't think we will see cameras quite like that again, as the "one cameras only" lens development was expensive, and manufacturers have higher profit margins from a DSLR.

Hi there, Dave-

Yes, I just purchased a camera that I had years ago, the Olympus C-8080. It is a great camera. However, with teaching again, I have not had much time to devote to it.

Have a great weekend.

I still have my C-8080 as a backup camera. I have been lurking around Steve's for ages and finally signed up the other day. I replaced the C-8080 with the SP-570UZ. I like the zoom and 4 X AA, but really miss the tilt viewer. I joined this forum because I want to follow the Fuji HS10 research, this may be my next purchase and then say by by to the SP-570.

Condoman-

Welcome to the Forum! We're surely glad that you came out of the "dark side."

I agree with you completely. Watching the Fuji HS-10 development will be very interesting. I am a Sony HX-1 user, and I am hopeful that Fuji can get more out of that CMOS imager.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Sarah
I still have my c8080. I have always been tempted to sell it but cant part with it. I dont think I would get much of my $1200 (Aus) back anyway. It is a great camera, the macro worked wonders. Maybe one day it may be a collectors item!

Default If I remember the old C-8080?

Hi mtclimer!

Of course, I do. But I never could afford one, so I had to settle for the C-3000 which gave me lots of joy. Still have it (cannot part with it, as I shot 6 years with it) and take it out sometimes to just fool around. Great optics in that Camedia-line!

Congrats with you "new" / old C-8080!

Walter-

It is a piece of the past, but it is fun to have. It still takes excellent photos.

C-8080 was a great camera, had one several years ago. Two others I regret getting rid of are the D-40 and E-10. Both were only 4MPS but took great pictures.
