Default OLympus c5050 or Canon G5? please help..

I am ready to upgrade my digital camera and have narrowed down my search to these two cameras. I have read good and bad reviews of both. I think for my purposes they would both do a good job but is one any better than the other? I like to photograph flowers, my children and the occasional landscape. Could any one help me out here? I am leaning toward the olympus but it is 6 months older in its release and I was wondering if that is significant as far as technology goes? Any help would be much appreciated.

Teri,
I'd look at the new Olympus C-5060z Wide. It offers a "super" macro mode and is more recent than either of the other two.

Hello Maury, thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I have looked at the 5060 wide zoom but unfortunately it is out of my price range...thanks for the advise though
