Default C5050 reset on battery change

My 5050 has started going back to factory defaults on changing the batteries. I am guessing there is a (non-user servicable) capacitor to hold the settings for awhile (manual says 1 hour) while the batteries are out. Anyone else experience this?

I remember readint that if the batteries were left out of an hour or so then camera would reset. This could also be true if batteries were so low on charge that they would not maintain the setup.

It isn't a battery problem. I can put fresh batteries in it and just open the battery door for a second and the settings are gone.

It sounds like the temp battery has gone bad. If the camera is under warranty I would return for Olympus for repair. If it is not under warranty call Olympus and they will tell you how much to repair the camera.

First try this...In playback mode go to Menu mode then to Set Up and turn All Reset to OFF.

Phil,

With all the settings on this camera its easy to forget or overlook.
When the wife and I go out to eat,if there is more than two items on the menu..I get confused.

All reset will also perform a reset when you power off the camera, which would be noticable right away, not just on battery change. This was the first thing I checked however.

I have sent an email to Olympus service and am waiting to hear back.
