Default Is the e-p1 a DSLR?

Just checking something to make sure. The Olympus e-p1 isn't a DSLR? It has something to do with mirrors right?

Yep, SLR = Single Lens Reflex so all the information comes in through the main lens and then a mirror sends light to the view finder. This mirror is moved away when a photo is taken.

The Oly is mirror less.

nope, it is not a dslr. But uses a sensor that are are found in olympus dslr's to confuse the matter more. So it does produce olympus dslr quality photos

You are correct.
Probably the best way to understand what these micro fourthirds cameras are all about is to read this review on the original release of the Olympus EP-1.
The review has a complete explanation along with drawings on the concept of microfourthirds

This is how the reflex in a single lens reflex works:

On the other hand, Micro FourThirds is like a P&S or Bridge camera in that the sensor is always exposed and transmitting the image to the LCD until it's time to take the picture.
