Default Olympus DX40 Problems

Have this camera about a year and a half and am more than dissatisfied with it - right now thinking Olympus makes the worst product on the market.

The do not make a rechargeable lithium battery for this camera and the disposable ones are quite expensive. I have 2 sets (different brands) of NiMH rechargeable batteries, keep them fully charged but am still only able to take 3 or 4 photos before the batteries go - I get a "low battery" reading. If I turn the camera off for about an hour, turn it back on it works again for another 2 or 3 pictures. If I turn the LCD screen on I might - if I am real lucky - get 1 picture before the batteries go.

Anyone else having this problem? If so, how did you solve, if you did; or any suggestions?

All help and comments greatly appreciated - THANKS
