Haven't used one, but they are supposed to be supported.

--Not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure, but. . .
Personally, I think I would rather have two 256 cards just to give some backup in event of catastrophic failure.

good point, i'll keep that in mind...

Has anyone actually had a XD card die on them?

damn that would suck :P

hopefully someone can confirm 100% that the 512MB works with 750UZ, most sites i see only show 16MB-256MB support

Like I said, I've never used one, but with that caveat, the press releases say the C-750 is compatible with 512M cards. I have a C-755, which is almost identical, and its Japanese instructions explicitly say it supports 512MB cards.

Also, according to : http://www.dpreview.com/news/0305/03...oly512mbxd.asp

"Olympus Japan has today announced another step in capacity for the relatively new xD Picture Card flash storage format, according to the press release they expect the 512 MB xD Picture Card (M-XD512P) to go on sale in Japan this June (next month). This new, higher capacity card, is already compatible with several recently released Olympus digital cameras; C-5050 Zoom, C-50 Zoom, C-730 Ultra Zoom, C-740 Ultra Zoom, C-750 Ultra Zoom . . . "

Finally, this is confirmed by Olympus' Japanese site, which states that the entire range of cameras in this form factor, from C-730 to C-755 support 16-512MB cards.

I've never heard of an xD card going south under normal use, but it could happen (same with any kind of card). I would also avoid using the computer to reformat or erase photos from any kind of card; there is definitely danger involved. Always replace the card in the camera and erase/reformat there.

I have used one in my 750 since October, and now use one in my 5060 as well. No problems with either one, and it is nice to be able to take a number of high res pictures without changing cards.
