Default HELP!! C750 grainy pics.

It seems like almost every pic I take has a significant amount of grain to it. I have tried NR on and off, different settings, filters and conditions. Is this due to fault of mine or is this typical of the 750? Any tips/suggestions would help.

Check the ISO values on your pictures. Try to set ISO 50 manually in P mode and compare the results. This may force your camera to choose longer shutter times, so beware on that and use a tripod if necessary. And use the FLASH on dark photos

Definitely not typical, unless you're cropping shots and blowing them up very large on the computer.

Whenever having a problem, I recommend going back to the basics and taking everything in steps; if you've experimented with making a lot of changes to the settings, I'd first go back to square one and make sure everything is reset to the factory defaults (set ALL RESET to ON; page 137 in online manual).

To get optimum shots without minimum grain, set your ISO to 50, and your picture quality to SHQ. For a test, place the camera on a tripod outdoors, set the shooting mode to "P" or to one of the outdoor scene modes, and shoot some landscape or people scenes under ordinary lighting condition (sun at your back). Check the photos in the computer. Are they grainy? It'd be best if you could upload a few shots here and let others see what they look like.

What sort of shots are you taking? What ISO setting and esposures? High ISO and slow shutter speed, with a featureless background, will cause grain.

If the camera is in Auto mode, it will not tell you any of this. It will set the highest ISO (prpbably) and whatever else it feels is "best". To work this out you need to go into manual or semi-manual modes, and see what results you get.

I notice grain (noise) in some low light photos. Not yet sure if it is just high ISO or if there are any other factors.

From your other postings, I believe you have solved or are about to solve your problem in your own way......
