Default Olympus C-755 UZ < JPY 40,000 (US $ 365)

Which is the better camera - the 755 or the 745?

The reason I ask is that due to the release last week of the 760 and 770 there are stores here in Tokyo selling the 745 for around $325 and the 755 for around $400.

I have seen some really nice work produced by the 740 so assume the 745 will be as good or better but have never seen much written about the 750.

Any help wil be appreciated.

I read somewhere that the 755 doesn't support English menus, only the asian group. Not a problem if you are bi/trilingual.

Yes, the C755 purchased in Japan has Japanese menus only. But that may be true of the Japanese-market C745 as well (I haven't checked). The biggest differences on the 755 remain the pixel size (4 versus 3.2M), the hot shoe on the C755, addition of ISO 50, and body material (the main differences parallel those between the 740 and 750, which are summed up HERE.

Both 755 and 745 have added PictBridge support, and the 755 also has a new superzoom function (14x, locked at 16001200 TIFF/SQ1), but the latter doesn't work that well, IMO. Other differences on the 755 include the limited-edition black-body model, internal speaker for playback of audio, and the support for a remote control (some or all of these may be present on the 750 as well).
Interestingly, the one place the 745 has the 755 beat is in consecutive photo speed: 1.4/second (max 11) for the 745 versus 1.3/second (max 8 ) on the 755.
