Default Stylus 300

I am considering this camera along with the nikon coolpix 3100.
Any thoughts or experiences on either would be helpful.
I like the idea of the stylus's more robust contruction, but just how water proof is it? I know it is not dunk proof but in the real world how much of an advantage is this?
Thanks

i think that is "splash proof" or "weather proof" not water proof as such. Meaning that you can carry it around in really humid environment or windy/dust and when drizzling. I wouldnt imagine that you can drop it in water or take it out with heavy rain.

The Stylus 300 is supposed to be able to handle heavy rain. It is purely point and shoot if that is what you are looking for. So is the Nikon so I presume you want P&S.

Thanks for the response!
I have decided to go up just a bit to the 4300 or the 400.
As I now have a coolpix 995 there are advantages to sticking with Nikon. But I like the splash res. of the Oly. They are about the same money, but with the Oly I will have to buy extra batt. plus different cards.
All thoughts welcome!
Thanks
