Default C-2100 manual infinity focus problem

Hi,
I've experienced a strange problem with my UZI. When I manual focus to infinity at an object which is definitely further than anything less than infinity, the picture is out of focus. Setting the focus to infinity minus about 3 focus steps, the picture turns out properly focused.
Well, I could work around this problem by always fine setting manual focus which is sort of hazzle. I only use manual focus to quickly set it to infinity without a visual feedback, which is rather aproximate to impossible with the EVF anyway.
I also use manual infinity focus while macro shooting with a macro lens. I get sharp pictures this way (provided that I manage to keep it steady and in the right distance, of course).
Have you encountered this bug?
Thanks for your help.
Martin

Default UZI infinity focusing

Martin,

You correctly describe a well known behaviour of the UZI and some other digicams, like the Minolta A1.

For reasons I can not tell those cameras seem to need some extra focusing range beyond infinity. If you want to focus for infinity, go three steps back from the end of range, and you are perfectly focused for infinity, as you found out yourself. It is not a bug, but a peculiarity.

Regards, Herbert

Another thing to keep in mind is to remember how the C2100uz focuses...

It "looks" for vertical lines on which to lock focus.

If you are doing an infinity shot but there is no vertical element
then reframe slightly to find one, lock the focus and then
reframe back to your original frame and shoot the photo.

This may help

Digcamfan, am I right you meant UZI's autofocus, not manual focus?
