Default olympus c4000z

Thinking of buying my first digital camera. Am into underwater photograghy. Can anyone tell me about the difference between a f1.8 and f2.8 lens? Is the olympus c4000z a good camera for u/w photograghy?

The F1.8 lens is a faster (brighter) lens than the F2.8 as it provides a wider aperture, thus letting more light into the camera. The more light a camera can get throughthe lens the better, particularly in low light situations. If you want more technical detail sorry I am not an expert I am sure someone else can fill you in on that!

I am also not sure about the underwater question, perhaps someone else can help.
