Default Oly C40Z computer USB problem

Any C40 (or other) owners had this problem with USB in W98....?

Once I've downloaded pictures I disconnect the camera (right-click, eject on the computer), the green light flashes a few times and then I remove the USB cable. Camera's OK, but the computer hangs with MSGSRV32 not responding. I can halt the task, but then can't connect the camera again without rebooting the computer.

Default Usb prob and computer connect

Olympus tech advised me to go with card reader more for the saving of the camera battery than anything else. I find using the card reader more convenient; it's left connected and results in less clutter on my desk. Reader is connected to USB in back of computer.

I use an Oly D510 and Win 98SE and have no problems when I disconnect. I wait till the green light stops flashing also, and then disconnect. It definitely sounds abnormal. Don't know enough to suggest a fix. Sorry. Jeff
