When using the flash in auto, the synching speed is 1/30 and photos of moving objects are blurred.

How can I change the flash synch speed to something higher that 1/30 on my Oly C-50z?

Thanks,

Use S (shutter priority) or M (Manual) modes, either of those will let you choose the shutter speed you want, S mode will compensate the aperture, while in M you control both shutter speed and aperture...with that you can select a shutter speed upto your camera's fastest speed.

Also this is covered in the reference manual that's on the CD. If you don't have the reference manual, you can download it from:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...ad_manuals.asp

From there you have to tell it you have a "Digital C-Series" and then a "C-50"

Thanks a lot for all the info.

I changed the speed to higher a value. The speed setting changed from "green" to "red", and the flash changed from auto to slow.

It looks like wrong settings, but the photos are nice now, so I imaging that the camera automatically compesates for everything.

Thanks again.

Many of the Olympus cameras have exposure compensation both for the picture settings itself, as well as for the flash...make sure these are set to "0" and not a positive number (which would increase the intensity of the exposure).
