Default just came in, advice needed again!

Alright, my refurbished Olympus C 3000 just came in the mail. i'm not used to dealing w/ digital cameras (this is my first digital) but i'm not an idiot either. i'm just used to my slr.

but um, what kinda stuff should i inspect to make sure it's in good condition...other than turning it on? hehe. if you guys can think of anything in particular, lemme know.

take shot with lens cap on, look for dead pixcels. Make sure lens goes in/out smooth, always remove lens cap b4 turning cam on. try all major features, zoom, marco, auto focus, video. How much warrenty did it come with?

it came w/ a 90 day refurbished olympus warranty.

Why do you have to do this? I always turn my camera on before I take the lens cap off. Is this bad?
