Last week I bought a new C-8080 and a 1GB IBM microdrive. There was no problem shooting with the 32MB xD-card delivered with the camera. After I changed to the microdrive I wasn't able to start the camera again. There was absolutely no reaction when pushing the power button.

Olympus suggested to leave the camera for 24 hours without battery and storage media and then try again. It didn't help.

I returned the camera yesterday and got a new functionating (with xD-card) one. As I didn't link the problem with the power button to the use of the microdrive I tried the microdrodrive in the new camera and got the same problem.

Any suggestion what to do? Has anyone heard of similar problems?

The1 gig IBM microdrive is not compatible with the C8080.

According to Olympus microdrives up to 4 GB, except the 340 MB one, should work with the 8080.

I tested the microdrive at the PC. After formatting with no errors I did a scandisk which revealed a lot of errors.

My dealer tested this microdrive in a healthy camera and got the same problems. I changed the microdrive for a 1 GB compact flash card and got a new camera. Now everything's working perfectly. :-)

Thanks a lot.
