I hear so many people say that you need tripod to take pictures at 10x and it's a must w/ tcon 17 at 17x....

I am not a profesional and I wouldn't want to carry a tripod on my trips, so my question is: Is it even possible to get around without one and still enjoy 17x zoom?

I just posted 4 handheld shots in this posttaken from 26.6mm-646mm with my 750uz using both wcon0.7 and tcon1.7 adapters... the 646mm shot was a 0.02sec expossure or 1/50th of a second hand held.....not the best for sharpness but still not to bad I don't think since it was also at f8 and iso50. I could have changed those two variables up to increase the shutter speed to get a crisper shot.Handhelds at such a high zoom are very possible with a two handed grip and a decent shutter speed.:-)

It depends on how steady your hands are. ;-)

Usually as a rule we say to shoot at a shutter speed at 1/focal length, so the 380mm of the camera plus the 1.7x gives you a maximum of 646mm, so at full zoom you should be shooting around 1/650th of a second or faster for handheld.
