I'm planning to buy this gadget... Macally Syncbox....

Its supposedly to transfer contents of USB storage devices such as memory cards of cameras to the more inexpensive USB thumb drive...

'Anyone tried it in their Oly? ... Comments?

Iv heard of people using them. It looks like a great idea. You could buy more memory for cheaper like usb hard drive 20 gig and hook it up to this. That would be great.

A great idea indeed. This gizmo costs $40-$50. I got a256Mb flash thumbdrive ($40) asa keychain. I really would like to use it with myOly. xD cars of the same capacity would run me $100 ($150 for 512Mb) - a bit expensive.I like the ideaof extending thefunctionality of my thumbdrive, alsowhen I upgrade to a more powerful cam without investing to a new type of memory card.

Should work with Olys (except older ones like C-2100):

"Works with devices that support USB Mass Storage specification. For non-USB Mass Storage devices such as Canon camera and Kodak camera, a USB card reader can be used to transfer photos."

staracer,

I ordered this after reading your post. It came today and it's great! I put my card reader cable in one side...my flash drive in the other...and the pictures transfered perfectly (about 20-30 seconds). The syncbox isabout the size of two packs of gum side-by-side--very cool! Not too expensive either ($34 inc. tax at buy.com) Thanks for the tip!

Julie (btw, I have a C-750)
