Default EVF problem

Hi All,

I have a Olympus 2100 camera. I have been using this camera since 6 months. But after using 1 month I found that when I focus the camera in the dark area, I see a very dark in the EVF. But when I switch to LCD it looks better. Sometime when I focus in very dark area(but with flash on), I can hardly see the objects that I am focusing on. But after taking the picture, I see a very good quality picture.

I did not bother much about this earlier since I was getting good pictures. But sometimes I think of sending it to the manufacturer.

So is there any problem with my camera ? do you recommend to send it to the Olympus for the service ? What do you advice for this problem.

Thanks in advance,
Goud

Goud, the quality of the display on both the EVF and the LCD are far inferior to the picture actually saved. I wouldn't worry about it! As I recall, there is an adjustment for brightness, although I can't remember if it's only for the LCD or if it applies also to the EVF. Check your manual; perhaps you can just brighten the display of the EVF.

I will read the manual once again and try something. I am also not bothered too much since I am getting good quality photos.

I know on the C700 you can adjust the brightness of both the LCD and EVF.

On that camera what I did was bring up the menu, and turn off the LCD (so just the EVF is on), then select brightness and adjust.

Check Page 163 of the manual.

1. Look at the image in the EVF.
2. Press the Menu button
3. Scroll until you see Mode Settings
4. Press OK
5. Scroll again until you see the brightness icon and press OK again
6. Now use the right and left arrow buttons to adjust the brightness and press OK again to save.
7. This is the same for the LCD except you need to have that active instead.

Hope that helps.

Both are adjustable for brightness. I find that the lcd on mine is very inaccurate for color where the evf is fine. The lcd shows everything with heavy reddish tint to it.

I also find mine takes better photo on -.03 or -.07 exposure adjustment.
