Is it possible to use another manufacturers zoom lens with the C-8080 other than the Olympus branded one? If possible, which one is preferred. I am looking to use my 8080 for wildlife photography and I can't outrun a bear.

No, the lens is unremovable. You'd have to look at one of the C-7xx cameras or one from a competitor.

There's no camera out there that has all features...the benefit of the C-8080 is its wide zoom, the C-5050 had an f1.8 lens, and the C-7xx series has long zooms.

There is one option for the C-8080, and that's a TCON-1.4D, which multiplies the C-8080 lens by 1.4x; instead of 28-140mm, it's 39-196mm. In contrast, the C-7xx cameras are usually 38-380mm, and you can now get a 2.2x teleconverter from Raynox which gives you up to 836mm, and if you were to use the digital zoom (which most don't recommend) you can have up to 3344mm.
