I am using the C-765, for the most part,I will want good quality 7 x 5 prints.

should i use SQ1 in high mode (giving 2048 x 1550) or HQ mode

HQ looks like it should be better, but i note the SQ1 in High (rather than normal)uses more memory because of lower compression.

is the difference between compression rates in these two modes detectable with 7 x 5 prints ?

thanks norm

I have done some experimenting with shooting modes for 7 x 5 prints and have been surprised how wide a range of the JPEG modes I can use that make virtually no difference to the quality of a 7 x 5 print.

I have put some test comments on my web page for those interested.

HQ should be fine for a 5x7. If however, you think that you might want toprint an8x10 or a cropped section of your original image, shoot in SHQ. You get more options with SHQ.

I have "only" a C-730 and shoot SHQ nearly all the time. I have both a 128 and 256 xD card and have been very satisfied with card capacity and print quality. I must add that I print using Qimage, which I highly recommend.
