hi there, does any one know of any other generic flash, eg, sigma, that will work on the E-20p??

i've seen the FL-50 which is too expensive!!:!:

so i was wondering if anyone knew of any other flash that would fit and work correctly, thanks.

The Sigma will not work with the Oly!

What you can do is look for any automatic flashes, ie with a photocell in front of the flash. The way it works is the flash will meter the correct output on a pre-dertermine sets of apertures that you can select. The E20 just have to be set to the same aperture as well as fixing it's shutter speed to the corresponding X-Sync

My recommendation is look for an affordable used 45CT/CL Metz... You can't go wrong with theses and no one has ever complained after owning one - With its dual-head it's like having a portable studio! :-)

BTW I have the Sigma and it will work on manual only, but it has a build-in digital readout that you can set to match - ie you set the ISO and the aperture and it will tell you the max distance available. You can then just vary this computed distance to match the distance marking on the lens and the flash output will be modulated correctly.
... and it will work with several other Sigma slaves too

There are a few FL-40 flashes for sale on Ebay at this time.

Also, occasionally olympus Ebay web site also offers the FL-40.

Good luck

This should give you the info you need:

Personally, the best choices are the FL-50 and FL-40 as they are 100% TTL compatible.
