The protective lens cover on my D-510 no longer remains locked in position when I open the camera for use. A slight nudge by my right hand pushes it slightly and the lens retracts as if I was closing up the camera. It is out of warranty and I have been told it is not cost effective to send it to Olympus to have it repaired. I have taken my cover off and may attempt my own repairs. Other than this annoying problem, the camera is great and I don't want to replace it yet. Does anyone have a fix for the problem?

thanks, Ron

The problem is, is the door damaged or worn, or is the track itself worn (or both).

Emporium has parts for sale for the D510:

Hi Ron,

have a kind of similar problem with my Izoom 75. The cover door goes open well. When it is open and I touch it just a little bit, the camera turns of. It looks like the power on/off switch is activated. However I need quite a big force to close the cover door, like something is jammed.

Something with the construction is not right. But what it exactly is, I don't know, but I hope the new Olympus stylus 410will be a better camera. Can tell anyone if the construction has chanched?

Thanks, Eef
