Default C730 versus c2100 quality of pics

Hi all,

If there is anyone on this forum who owns a C730 and a C2100 I would be much interested in your comparsion of the two.

Also, if you could post comparison pics, I would be most appreciative!

Thanks much

I would strongly recommend the C2100 over the C730. I had a C2100 for about 1 1/2 years, until I lost it on a trip last weekend. I purchased a C700 yesterday to hold me until I can buy a "good" camera, and I am severely disappointed!! I loved the 10x zoom on the C2100, which is what influenced my decision to get the C700. I had no idea how much impact the image stabilization feature on the C2100 had on my zoom shots. The C700 does not have that feature, nor does the C730. Low light shots are pretty much nonexistant, whereas the C2100 did a fair job.
Whatever camera you get, be sure image stabilization is a feature on it!!! A 3x zoom may do well without it, but a 10x zoom must have it.

Well, the 2100 is older technology and although the IS is nice to have, the 730 should take better pictures where IS is not needed because of the extra megapixel, and the noise reduction.

I'm a C-700 user, and I have taken handheld shots both at full optical zoom (10x) and full digital zoom (27x) with no problems (in daylight where a fast enough shutter speed was selected).

You can see examples of this in the Zooms directory of the Oly_C-700 Yahoo group:

You can't miss what you've never had (although I have used IS in video) but if I lost my C-700 today, and had the money for the C-2100 I'd still go for the C-730 instead.

The 730 has more noise than the 2100, but after resizing to the size of the 2100 pics the noise isn't very noticeable.

You can do your own comparisons right here. Look at Steve's reviews and his sample shots. Keep in mind the different sizes.
