I have read on some posts that the Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom will not use the AF assist beam / lamp on the FL-36 but does use the AF assist beam / lamp on both the FL-40 and FL-50. Is this correct?

Confirmed - AF/Illuminator on FL-36 flashdoes not work with C8080, illuminator does work on camera

FL-50 is listed as a compatible TTL flash on Olympus web site. I assume it would work

FL-40 is no longer in production, so is not listed on Olympus web site as a compatible flash. It might work.

In my opinion the AF illuminator not working doesn't really bother me.
