Default Do Olympus Flashes tear up easily?

I'm going to buy either the Canon A40 or the Olympus D550Z. The thing I don't like about the Olympus is the flash that "pops up" when you slide the cap off the lens. It just seems that would be something that would wear out quickly. Has anyone had this happen yet or am I completely wrong about the Olympus? Would the A40 or D550 be the better camera? Thanks.

I had the Oly 490 and it had the pop up flash and my son is still using it. It will be 2 years old this summer.

I too am leaning towards either the Olympus 550 or the Canon Powershot A40.

Any comments on the 550 would be appreciated.

I bought a olympus 550 several months ago and it works great, no problems at all,at least for me. I don't think that you can go too far wrong with this camera.
