according to report published in Oly forum on dpreview. Evidently B&H no longer carries them and existing stocks are rapidly disappearing. Just an FYI, if you've been wanting one you might want to act soon. Surely some will be available on eBay and the like, but in my experience once a camera is discontinued it's hard to get your hands on one.

It's on sale right now at CompUSA for $550. You might be able to pick it up at Best Buy for $30 less if you do a 110% pricematch.

I just bought a BRAND NEW C-8080 at a Best Buy here in southern Calif. on Memorial Day, for $479!Very RARELY do I feel like I TRULY got a great deal...this was one of those times!I thought the price tag was a misprint, since it was $699 less than 2 weeks ago! This leads me to believe that Olympus must be coming out witha "C-9090"??? Or ????

Greetings All, Just picked up C-8080 at J&R in NYC for 499.00 PLS TX. with a little negotiation. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3965257.

Upgraded from C3040. firmware was up to date out of the box, now reading manual and think its a great camera. There are some quirks but I believe if one takes the time to work with this camera it will not dissapoint.

Peace

If I were you, I wouldn't get rid of that 3040z. ;-) It's one of the better non-DSLRcameras ever made for existing light shooting (thanks to it's very bright lens, and 3MP 1/1.8" CCD, which is less prone to noise as ISO speeds are increasedcompared to most newer sensors).
