Default Is it worth upgrading from my C-3000 to the C-4040?

I am considering upgrading my C-3000 to the C-4040, mainly because it has more MP. Could you please tell me what other advantages the C-4040 has? I'm not that familar with this camera. Does it have the PIM (picture image mataching) feature?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The most significant difference of the two camera would be the optics. The F1.8 lens is better for low light conditions. Prices on the C4040 are very low on the web currently. I purchased mine for $500. I later sold my C3000 for $320 on Ebay. It cost me $180 to do the upgrade. I believe the optics and the 4mp was worth the cost. Now the other shoe hits the floor, The C5050 would be my choice of upgrade from the C3000. You can purchase the C5050 for under $700 from the internet.

Thanks for your input. I would love to upgrade to the 5050 but it's not exactly in my budget. The 4040 is priced more reasonably now. Can you remember any of the other subtle differences between the 3000 and the 4040? I need it to help me justify the change. Thanks.

The menu settings are somewhat different. You can also set settings on the camera and then save the settings. I believe you could not do that on the 3000. The C4040 is a great camera and I am happy that I upgraded.

The C4040 has better optics and also will record sound. The C4000 has a super macro setting that the 4040 does not.

The C5050 is a 5mp camera and the C4000 is 4mp. The C5050 continues the best optics that Olympus provides in the compact camera field. There are many additional features on the C5050 over the C4000. Check the reviews by Steve. One other thing, the C5050 cost $800 and the C4000 can be purchased for less than $400 on line. Check www.dealtime.com. Both are great cameras and I believe the C5050 will come down in price sometime this summer.
