Altho this cam was introduced only about 6 months ago, there are some warning signs of possible discontinue. First, the $100 rebate by Olympus was due to end 4/1/05. It was then extended through 5/31/05. You can't find onein Best Buy and Sam's has discontinued. I was told by good source, they are no longer making them. It is still on Oly website. I was attracted to its 7mp, 5X optical in a compact package w Olympus image quality! These flags cause me some concern as I just picked up one of the last ones around and wonder if there is a problem. What do you guys think? Looking forward to your thoughts.Thanks/ Jerry

Don't worry about it, the camera is not being discontinued. They even had the rebate on the brand new E-300 as well as the E-1 system. Rebates have been pretty common over the years. I's been a way to compete, as like computer prices in the past, the price keeps dropping. Traditionally rebates are used to stay competitive as the competition introduces new models at lower prices.

Remenber that the vast majority of people are not photograhers, and they just buy the basic cameras that are carried by the mass merchandisers. Olympus has always been a lower sales volume than a Canon, etc. They are never going to be carried in as many stores as the higher volume cameras.
