Default C-4000 vs C-4040

I am looking at buying a new digital camera and I am strongly leaning towards the Olympus in a 4 mp. I was wondering what the differences were between the C-4000 and the C-4040.

I see three major differences between the C4000 and the C4040:
1. The C4040 has better optics and will shoot low light photos better.
2. The C4040 has sound with the movie function and the C4000 does not.
3. The C4000 has a super macro mode and the c4040 has only a macro mode.

I own the C4040 and I really like the photos it produces. I have a friend who has the C4000 and it also produces great photos. I think you will enjoy either camera.

Thanks for the reply Gib. Seems the C-4040 has a bit of a lead on the C-4000 with those differences.

There's also about a $100 price difference in the 2 cameras also I believe. At least it was when I bought my C-4000.

You are right. The C4040 is going to run about $100 more. I think the C4000 is one of the best buys in the 4mp in the current digital camera market. I bought the C4040 because I do little movie bits with my grandchildren and I wanted the sound option. I also take photos of kids playing basketball in our church basketball league. It is indoors and the optics of the C4040 are more suited for these types of pictures. These were my reasons for buying the c4040 over the C4000.

Yeah, the 4040 does have some nice options on it that are not on the 4000. I was looking at both when I bought my 4000. I however don't use the movie function on the camera, so for my needs the 4000 seemed to be fine for me.
